Jewel colours for Less is More ......

Happy Thursday!

I had all good intentions of trying to blog a little bit more this week ...... but they soon went out the window!!!
I've not really been up to much ..... for a change ...... the old craft room has been busy though.   There's a few fun things coming up soon but my lips are sealed ..... for now!

Autumn is definitely here ...... we've had a right old mixture weather wise this week.  We're still resisting putting the heating on though ...... the 'lightweight' woollies are out of storage and I've just ordered myself a nice new pair of cosy slippers, can't wait for those to arrive.  I did offer to get hubby some but he said he's not old enough to wear slippers!!!!  Is he saying I am ....... Humph!!

Anyway .... enough babbling .... the real reason for this post is this weeks Less is More Challenge.
It's a Colour week and we have to use .....
Jewel Colours

Now I must say I'm a bit of a magpie ..... anything shiny and I'm there!  I love gemstones .... Tanzanite, Amethyst, Rubies, Diamonds ........ the glorious, warm Citrines or the cool Aquamarine (my birthstone) ..... the choice is endless!

For the challenge I went for the red (ruby), purple (amethyst) and the golden yellow (citrine) ..... all coloured using Copic markers and a touch of Distress ink

The stamps are from a set called DoodleBuds by Wplus9  ...... I've stamped the stems and leaves onto a piece of white card (coloured them Peridot green and Emerald .... actually its was Distress Markers ...... Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn) and then paper pieced the flower heads on the top.

I added a pretty satin bow and a sentiment from the HLS Butterfly Birthday  stamp set

and a few dots of green glitter glue here and there, for a touch of sparkle

I left the inside open ...... just a simple flower, no specific greeting ....... we'll see what occasion comes first for this one

As this month's Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge is all about Paper Piecing I thought I'd link this up there too

That's it from me today .... time to get the dinner on (no rest for the wicked and all that!)
I've been waiting all afternoon for a phone call from Chris (the eldest!).  He's got a few busy but exciting weeks ahead of him ..... assuming everything goes OK this afternoon.  I don't want to say too much just yet but fingers crossed ......... it's what he's been hoping for ..... it's just come a little sooner than we thought!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time

Linda

LOVE your paper pieced flowers Linda. So pretty with the jewel tones against the bright green leaves.

New slippers sounds good to me ... I've been needing a pair for ages, but whenever I'm shopping, I somehow keep ending up at craft stores --- how does that happen??!! :)

I think we are practical for having slippers when the weather gets colder --- has nothing to do with age --- we gals are just smarter! :) xx

Love the Doodlebuds set, another on my wishlist! Great use of jewel colours too and fabulous paper piecing. You can't put an age on wearing slippers, if they make you cosy, what's not to love?!
Thanks for sharing with us.
