Autumn Leaves .......

Hello there challenge fans ...... me again!

Boy has it been busy in the old craft room this week ...... and it's not over yet!
I've got another fun challenge for you ....... October's  Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge gets underway.  This month the theme is all about ..... Nature

A perfect theme for this time of year ...... don't you think.  For me, Nature is at it's best in the Autumn, the colours are spectacular as the season changes, and I love it when there's a slight chill in the air (nothing to do with the fact that my personal central heating system is on constant full blast right now!!)

I've gone for the CAS look this month, with some beautiful die cut Autumn Leaves ....... the real version are gathering daily outside my craft room window ..... another job to add to the To Do list ..... sweeping up!

I started out by blending Autumnal shades of Distress Inks onto a piece of white cardstock ..... Wild Honey, Fossilised Amber, Carved Pumpkin ...... Forest Moss and a little bit of Aged Mahogany.
I then die cut the leaves from the card using Tim Holtz's Fall Foliage Thinlit Dies and then added a touch of Gathered Twigs Distress ink around the edges, to add a bit of shading

The veining on the leaves comes from one of the stamps from the new Tim Holtz Leaf Prints from Stampers Anonymous ..... stamped using the Gathered Twigs Distress ink.

I then masked off the bottom part of a piece of white card and applied shades of brown Distress inks to the top part ..... starting with Tea Dye all over, followed by Vintage Photo around the edges and not quite covering the centre, then just a touch of Aged Mahogany around the edge to finish off, before splattering some clean water over the top ......

I then used the Hardwood background stamp from Stampin Up to add the woodgrain design ... love this!

I added a thin strip of card across the bottom edge of the stamped design and attached my leaves over the top ......

I tied a piece of natural twine around the stems and then added a few dots of Glossy Accents here and there, to look like morning dew.

A simple gold embossed greeting (one of the stamps from the HLS Doodled Flowers set) adds the perfect finishing touch ......

As with all the Happy Little Stampers challenges, Mixed Media is sponsored by the HLS store ....

and the winner will receive a $15 discount off their order from the shop.

You have to be in it to win it though so it's over to you ...... Happy stamping!

If you need more inspiration pop over to the HLS Blog the  Design Team have got lots of fabulous designs to share with you.

Well .... that's it from me.  Thanks for popping by ....... enjoy the rest of your day/evening.
I'm off now to tackle the mountain of ironing that seems to have appeared through the week ....... why I'm still doing Lauren's bed linen I have no idea ..... she has her own washing machine!!!

Cheerio until next time .....
