Just one layer ..... raiding the stash, a new challenge and Happy Birthday!

Happy Wednesday!

It's been another cold, wet and windy day over here ..... we haven't had any of the snow that parts of the UK have been getting but we are on a severe weather warning apparently.  No boats again today, and flights cancelled too ...... guess it's time to batten down the hatches and wait until it passes.

It is a day to celebrate though .... my little old blog is 3 today ...... whoo hoo!!  Happy Birthday Blog. How time flies when you're having fun!
It was also Stephen's Mum's birthday yesterday, it's Lauren's on Saturday, then Chris's next Saturday ...... January's a busy month!!

I'm slowly getting back into my Blog challenges ......... I didn't make last week's Less is More so I was determined to get something done for this week ...... well, it's One Layer Week, couldn't miss that now could I!

The theme is ......

New Beginnings ....

I think the sentiment says it all ....... each day is a new beginning, why not make is special.

I used the Wendy Vecchi Brick Wall stencil with some Dried Marigold Distress ink,  to add a bit of detail to the background

Then I stamped the flower over the top using black Versafine ink.  I love this little bloom .... it's from a set of stamps by Wendy Vecchi called Wildflower Art and it's the first time they've seen a ink pad today, so I guess you could class this as ..... in the words of the lovely Darnell ..... Never Before Used Schtuff! (NBUS)

I removed some of the Distress ink from within the stamped image using a water brush and kitchen roll, then added colour to the flower using Spectrum Noir pencils

To finish off I added the words, again from a Wendy Vecchi set of stamps, this time Art-Fully Said,
another stamp set from the NBUS stash!!!  I'm doing well this week

As always, there's a little something on the inside

So .... that's this week's Less is More done.  And seeing as I've been using NBUS stash I'm also entering this into Darnell's latest NBUS challenge

AND ...... a new one for me ..... CAS-ology.

CAS - ology focus on Clean and Simple designs ... lots of white space, and use a Cue Card for inspiration.  It's a weekly challenge starting each Tuesday and you can find all the details HERE

This week, as you can see the word on the Cue Card is NBUS.  The lovely Darnell (who by the way came up with the acronym some time ago) is their Guest Designer, so there's a bit of a collaboration going on with both challenges running alongside each other (it would be rude to enter one and not the other wouldn't it!)

That's one card and three challenges ...... I'm on a roll!!

Thanks for popping by ..... I hope the weather's being kind where you are.  It's blowing a right hoolie outside here at the moment.  I don't care though it's time to curl up in front of the TV tonight ...... Lauren decided a couple of weeks ago that she would finally sit down and watch Game of Thrones ... and see what all the fuss was about.  Well ..... she's up to Season 3 episode 9 ....... The Red Wedding!!!!! Can't wait to see her reaction!!

Cheerio until next time

  11. You're too kind to me, Linda! But I do appreciate it!! And, BTW, we're pretty much bloggie twins! Happy birthday to your blog. I started mine in October of '11, but didn't really get off the ground until mid-January of '12, so that's what I consider my start date. Darn, I forgot to mention it on my post today, now that I think about it. I was going to do both anniversaries on the same date, easy to remember that way. Except I forgot. Are you as lost as I am? I'll just start over then.

Hi Linda! Happy blogaversary and many, many more! Your post and your beautiful card are words to live by every day! Well said and well made! That pretty flower looks especially striking against the wall and it's awesome how you carried the wall over to the inside as well to back the sediment! This is another winner in my eyes!

Thank you so much for linking up to both the CASology challenge and my NBUS Challenge #3! Excellent job using all that NBUS on one card!! Have a great weekend and I hope the hoolie calms down!! Hugs, Darnell
