Off the Edge ......

Good Morning ...... and a Happy Weekend to you,

Well today's the day (whoo hoo!!) ......... we get the keys to our new house!!!  Yes we're moving (again!)
We pick up the keys today but, the removal men don't arrive until the 31st.  So, we've got 10 days to get used to the place and move some of the smaller stuff ourselves.  The old craft room is one of the first jobs on the list, along with all the kitchen stuff.  So ..... I've got a busy few days ahead of me.

Before all that though, there's something else going on today .....  it's the launch of the latest Challenge over on the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog.
Thanks to everyone that took part last month .... you all seemed to like the Spring Greens theme as much as the DT did.
If you entered, check out the Blog to see if you're our winner, or one of the Top 3 .... and you could be joining the DT on a future challenge.

So, what's this month's theme?  ...... Well the title is ......

I can't wait to see what you all do with this one.

'Off the Edge' for me, means exactly that ..... off the edge of the card, or canvas, or whatever your project is.  You've probably seem me use this technique quite often .... especially on the inside of my cards.

You don't always need to use the whole of the image from a stamp, try staying clear of the centre of your card, go more to one side, or try the bottom, or the top.  Stamp the image off the edge slightly and see what a different look you achieve.

I've used the new Lost in Thought stamp, stamped slightly off one edge, and the bottom of my card

I added a touch of colour to her using Distress Inks and a little water.  I just kept to two colours (Spun Sugar and Faded Jeans) for the whole design as I didn't want it to look too fussy.
Once she was dry I made myself a mask of the image, covered it up and then built up the background around her.

I used the Script Background stamp, and Spun Sugar Distress Ink, all over, again going off the edges

then followed with the Faded Jeans, mixed with water, splattered over the top using a paintbrush.

I stamped a couple of Limor Webber's Industrial Lamps at the top ..... keeping them off the edge, and embossed them using a clear powder

The design is finished off with a little more Distress ink sponged around the edges and one of the words from my favourite Sarah's Choice stamps

I've taken some of the design onto the inside of the card too ....

Take a look at your rubber stamp collection and see which images lend themselves to being stamped off the edge .... you'll probably find you can use this technique with most of them.

Here's another idea for you ..... this time using one of the beautiful new floral stamps .... Peony Posy

This is so quick and easy but makes a really nice card, for any occasion

I've stamped the image off the edge, and embossed with clear powder, then added colour to the blooms using Distress ink

A little ink around the edges, a few splatters here and there,

And some nice words finish it off beautifully ..... these ones come with the gorgeous new Caitlin rubber stamp .......

Again, more of the same inside

If you need more inspiration pop over to the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the DT have come up with.
Then it's over to you.  You've got until 8pm on April 20th to get your entries in ..... loads of time to have fun, and go 'Off the Edge'!

Thanks for popping by ...... have a great weekend.

Cheerio until next time

Spring Greens ........

Happy weekend folks!

Are you doing anything nice this weekend?  I'm hoping for a quiet one myself, maybe spend some time in the old craft room (if I'm lucky!)

It's the 21st of February (already!) and our latest challenge gets underway today over on the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog.
Thank you to everyone that took part last month, as always we had some fabulous entries.
Time to do it all again though ....... This month's theme is all about ......

Spring Greens

Use your fabulous IndigoBlu Stamps and create something amazing in gorgeous shades of green.

Here's a little something to hopefully inspire you .....

I've used one of  the gorgeous new releases from IndigoBlu ......  'Peony Posey' along with my new favourite colour of Distress ink ...... Cracked Pistachio ..... I love it!!!!!

I stamped the image onto a piece of white card and embossed it with a clear powder ...

Look at all the fab detail, and the centre peony is just stunning!  I can see this becoming a firm favourite of mine!

I then swiped the Cracked Pistachio DI onto my craft sheet, spritzed with a little water and used a paint brush to add colour to the image.
The touches of pink are Picked Raspberry DI, applied in the same way (a gorgeous combination for spring with the new Distress colour)

I then used the IndigoBlu Diamond stencil, again with the Cracked Pistaschio DI, to fill in some of the white space around the stamped image

To add a little bit more interest to the background I used a paintbrush to flick the watered down distress inks over the design ..... I'm loving the grungy splattered look at the moment.

To finish off  I coloured a piece of white seam binding using the new Distress colour (told you I love it!)

and used it to attach one of the words stamped from Sarah's Choice

With the front all finished I had to do a little something on the inside

I used part of the Peony Posey image just in one corner ....  stamped, embossed and coloured just like before

Added a little more of the stencil design, and used another of the stamps from Sarah's Choice

Now it's your turn.

You've got until 8pm on March 20th to get your entries in ..... have fun and happy stamping!!

Thanks for popping by ...... enjoy the rest of your day, and have a great weekend.

Cheerio until next time

A touch of red ........

Good Morning!  Happy Wednesday!

It's the 21st of the month, it's 10 o'clock and it's the launch of the first new challenge of the year over at IndigoBlu.

We had some fabulous entries at the end of last year,  for the Glamour & glitz challenge. Congratulations to Shelagh, our first winner of the year ...... enjoy your prize!

Our first challenge of 2015 is all about ......

 A Touch of Red

Perfect for all those Valentine cards maybe, that we're going to need in February.

I'm still not back in the full swing of things with my DT work but, you know me, a touch of red is one of my favourite colour ways ...... I love to team it up with black and white.   And, there's a perfect stamp in the brand new IndigoBlu/Limor Webber collection that's just been released at CHA ....... so I couldn't resist having a play for this challenge ......

Looking at the Challenge Blog this morning, a few of the DT have had the same idea ...... we've used the same stamp but that's great because each design is so different.  Just shows how colour can change things so easily.

I've gone for a bit of a layered look and added in some old book pages for the background.

I stuck the pages onto a piece of white card using IndigoBlu's Slap It On ....... I coated the white card, put the book pages on the top, then sealed them with another layer of Slap It On.
Once it was all dry, I added a touch of colour around the edge using Distress ink

I then stamped the Limor Splattered Heart in the centre and embossed with a Clear, fine detail powder

I stamped and embossed the image again onto a piece of white card, and cut out the centre heart.
I painted it using the English Cottage Artist's Acrylic Paint, in the gorgeous Ruby Slippers, and then shaped it a little using a large embossing tool

This was then attached over the original image using foam pads to add dimension.

To finish off I did a bit of mat and layering with some red, black and white card and then added a few more splatters to the design using the Ruby Slippers paint

I didn't think it needed any words on the front, but I did, as always, add a little something to the inside

A bit of torn book page, applied as before, and inked around the edge.  And finished off by using just part of  Limor's Heart stamp to add the splatters.

Hope you like it ..... now it's your turn.
You can find more inspiration over on the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog ..... the DT have been busy with lots of ideas to get you started.
You have until 8pm on 20th February to get your entries in ...... so get those stamps out and start creating.  Have fun!

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time

Happy stamping!
