Mixed Media Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

Hello again .....

Time for another challenge ...... it's a busy old month so far!!

It's the turn of the HLS Mixed Media Challenge this time ..... and this month it's all about using PAINT

As always the challenge is sponsored by the Happy Little Stampers Store

And the challenge winner will receive a $15 discount voucher to shop in the store

We have a fabulous Guest Designer with us again this month ..... the lovely Autumn from  Sew Paper Paint is joining in the fun .... please pop over and say Hi.

So ...... paint ...... I love the stuff!!

Towards the end of last year I ran a small workshop on creating Masterboards.
Basically you use your stamps to create complete sheets of your own patterned card or paper, then colour them in using inks, or pens, pencils or in this case I used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints.  I've been waiting for an opportunity to cut it up and make a card!

It started out as a sheet of white A4 cardstock which I coloured completely using the paints.  Once this was dry I then stamped over the top using one of the mini JOFY stamps (JOFY Mini 34) until the whole of the sheet was covered.
Try and keep your pattern quite random, and stamp off the edges too.  Turn your stamps as you go along to get a different look.

I embossed each of the images with a clear powder ...... this helps when colouring in the flowers later.

I used more shades of paint from the Fresco Finish range to colour each of the flowers ..... just mixed each one with a little water and used them with a fine paintbrush ...

The embossing acts as a resist against the paint around the edges so you don't loose any of the detail of the stamped images.

I've used a whole range of colours on mine, but you could just use one or two, use your favourite colour in two or three different shades or just colour the background in a nice bold colour and leave your stamped images white ..... just have a play.

Anyhow .... my masterboard was then cut down to size (approx. 14cm square) ....... and I've still got loads left over for other projects.
I then stamped the HAPPY .... from the HLS Bold Birthday Sentiments onto a strip of torn vellum using Versamark ink, and embossed with a fine detail white powder

This was then wrapped around the card, and then mat onto another piece of white card, before adding it to the front of my cardblank.

I finished off by adding some dots of white Enamel Accents to the centres of the flowers and just a few onto the vellum for added decoration.

I even used a piece of the masterboard to decorate the inside .......

Along with another of the words from the HLS Bold Birthday Sentiments

Have a go at making your own masterboards .... it's fun.

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time

Our sponsor this month is the fabulous Magenta .......

And they've got a great prize ........ 4 of their gorgeous stencils and 3 masks! (oooh ....... that's something new to use everyday for a whole week!!)

Not only that, Magenta are kindly offering a $5 flat rate shipping deal to all Craft Stamper readers, on all stencils and cling stamps .... simply use the code PromoCSUK when you checkout.  This offer is available from 7th - 30th November ....... not bad eh!

A few weeks ago I had fun creating masterboards with a group of ladies, then I showed them how to use these to make up some nice, easy card designs.
Here's one of the boards I made using some leaf designs from STAMPlorations and a few different colours of Distress Inks ..... perfect for this time of year

I inked up the stamps using different colours and then randomly covered the whole piece of card.......

I love the effect the Distress inks gave.  A few ink splatters to fill in some of the white space, using the same colours of Distress, and a little bit of shading here and there and it was done.

And this is how I used it .......

I love using Kraft card ..... especially for Autumnal designs.

I simply cut a square from the masterboard to the size I wanted.  I chose a piece that had quite a bit of white space in between the leaves ...... perfect to add some nice words

I used a bit of natural twine, some gold thread and a pretty wooden button to add more interest

Then once the card was all finished, just a few dots of glossy accents here and there .....

Not one to waste anything .... here's another quick design using another piece from the same masterboard

And a tag to use up all the little bits ......

I also stamped onto the Kraft card using the same colours of ink, and the same stamps .....

And more of the natural twine to finish it all off

Why not have a go at creating masterboards ..... they're real fun to do and great to have in your stash, ready for when you need that quick card!

OK ....... now it's over to you ..... take a stamp and create something fab!!  Good luck with the challenge ..... can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day and have a fab weekend
We're off looking at furniture this weekend .... oh joy! Not for us though .... for the kids ...we'll just end up paying for it!!

Cheerio until next time
