STAMPlorations CAS Challenge .......

Happy Thursday ......

The weekend is almost here ..... have you got anything nice planned?  Me ..... I'll be spending most of it packing I think.  Just a few bits and bobs to finish off in the craft room, then it's time to pack it all into boxes ready for the move.

Today, it's time for a quick reminder of this month's STAMPlorations CAS Card challenge ......

The theme, as always, is Anything Goes with the optional colour twist this month of ..... SILVER

I've used the colour twist for my sentiment ...... heat embossed one the stamps from the STAMPlorations  Typografia range
I do love these stamps, there's some fabulous words and phrases suitable for all kinds of projects.  The one I've used here is called Plan A ........

I stamped it onto white card, heat embossed in silver and then die cut around it with a stitched circle die from my stash.

Leaving the die in place I added a touch of colour over the words using Distress Ink.  Leaving the die means that you get this crisp white edges around the design ...... it gives the look of layering without having to use the cardstock.

I used the CUTplorations Upper Case Alphabet Plate Die to cut the letters for the background and attached  them randomly around the edges of a piece of white cardstock.  I love doing this, it gives such a great effect, it looks like embossed card almost

I also added a few to the inside too ......

You can find all the challenge details over on the STAMPlorations Blog along with lots more inspiration from the rest of the DT .... why not pop over and take a look.

Happy stamping!

Thanks for stopping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time ......

Happy Birthday Less is More!

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a good weekend ..... it was a little bit on the wet side over here.  I think I'm getting webbed feet!!!

Let's get the week started with a celebration shall we.  Over at Less Is More  it's Happy Birthday all the way .......... they're 5 this week ...... Whoo hoo!!
Congratulations ladies!

Less is More was the first blog challenge that I entered all those moons ago.  They introduced me to the OLC (One Layer Card) which is now a firm favourite of mine and of course my love for lots of white space.
Each week the ladies come up with a fab challenge and there's always loads of entries, with lots of inspiration.  Keep up the good work girls .... we love you!!

It's always a Colour week at the beginning of the month and this time its one of my favourites .....

WHITE ON WHITE
(accents of metallics or black are acceptable too)

Never easy to photograph .... but always looks great!

Lots of white space this week ....... I used one of my favourite Penny Black dies for the balloons and a die from my pile of NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff!) ....... the Happy Trio from WPlus9 ..... love it!!

I cut three of the happy's and layered them together for a bit more depth ......

and you can see that I gave each of my die cuts a quick spritz with some white pearlescent spray

I attached the balloons using foam pads for dimension and tied a little bit of silver thread around the bottom of them

I gave the whole thing one final spritz with the pearlescent spray ..... another thing that's not the easy to photograph, especially when there's no sun to catch the shimmer!

A nice sentiment inside (Penny Black's sprinkles and smiles) ......

and another quick spritz finish everything off nicely.

Happy Birthday Less is More ..... here's the next 5 years!!

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

It's half term here in the Isle of Man so I've got the little man this week.  I'll try and keep up with things and not get too distracted with Super Mario, Thunderbirds or Thomas!  Although I may just be tempted by a nice trip to the ice cream parlour later in the week, and ...... we have to decorate the plant pot that his daffodil is growing in so that should be fun ..... and messy!!

Right I'm off now to finalise my Stampin Up! order (could take a while!) from the party I hosted yesterday.  We all had a great time.   Lyn, my lovely SU rep did a fantastic job ...... great demos and a fab make and take.
They all want to know when we can do it again!

Cheerio until next time .....

Embossing for Merry Monday

Happy Thursday to you,

I've been playing along with some blog challenges again today .... well trying to that is!

It's been one of those days.  All I'm going to say is ....  I should tidy up my desk and put finished cards SOMEWHERE SAFE ..... before starting to play with paint!!!!!!  It was only a little bit on my craft sheet .... but it doesn't half spread when you don't want it too!!!

Anyway ....... second time of trying (again!!) with a few choice words muttered here and there ...... I finally got something finished.

It's time to go all festive again ..... just for today anyway.
Merry Monday's challenge this week is all about ......

Embossing

I've gone for a simple, but elegant, white on white, with just a hint of red ....... (you can imagine a splodge of blue paint across the bottom was not the look I was after  ....... not even I could cover that up!!!) Anyway ... second time around ..... minus the paint ...... ta dahhhh!! ........

Very CAS, using a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder for my design, with a touch of added sparkle .....

And a little something on the inside of course .....

Well that's another one done for the festive box.  Now I just need to re-stock everything else.  I hadn't realised just how few cards I had in my stash!

It's cards of a different kind at Walmsley Towers this evening.  Yes ... there's a friendly poker game going on.
Maybe I should stick to what I know best .... I need my cash for the craft show at the weekend!!!

Thanks for popping by ...enjoy the rest of your day

Cheerio until next time

No I haven't left the country ......

Happy Thursday!

I thought it was time I took a quick 5 minutes to blog, just to let you know that I am still here, and I haven't left the country (as tempting as that sounds!)
It's not been a good week ..... Mr Mojo has deserted me and gone into hibernation I think!

With a deadline looming and only half a box of samples done I decided enough was enough yesterday.  I took a much needed break from my craft room and went AWOL!!!
I spent the afternoon with a group of  lovely ladies in someone else's crafty space.  It was so nice to just relax and play ...... I even tried something new!

This is what came home with me when we'd finished, thanks to the lovely Jill Poole whose craft room we took over for four hours or so ......

A pretty MDF heart, covered with Texture Paste and then stamped into while it was still wet.  It was then painted using Lumiere Metallic Acrylic paints, and touches of embossing  powder sprinkled over the top.  The whole thing was then gently heated to set the powder and dry the paint completely, and then finished with a smidgen of Treasure Gold to finish off the edges.  The end result is just gorgeous!!  It was a shame to cover it up really but I added a couple of metal charms and the pretty organza bow .....

and just a few of the Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers.....

When I got home I added a magnet to the back of the heart and it's now sat on my fridge door ..... I love it!
The colours don't come across very well in the pictures, it's actually a really pretty pinky lilac shade with hints of gold and a blue shimmer (I won't make excuses about the lighting not being good etc., etc., it's probably just my bad photography again!)

Not only did I make the heart, but I also had a play, for the first time, with some Friendly Plastic.  Now I've had some of this stuff in my craft stash for ages (thanks to my good friend Sally-Jo), but just never got around to playing with it (like so many other things in there!), until yesterday when Jill  got us making centres to go in flowers on a card we'd made .......

How cool is that! ....... I know ...... you're probably all saying been there, done that ages ago - where have you been LindyLou????  but it was my first time ...... and I was well impressed!!  All we used was a bit of netting to push the Friendly Plastic through, and a piece of copper piping to cut the button shape .... simples.  When I got back yesterday the first thing I did was hunt down my FP stash (Thanks Sally-Jo!), so guess what I'll be doing when all my DT stuff's done!

Here's the finished card ...... a pretty little hidden slider card - something else I hadn't made in a while ....

As you can see, I had a lovely afternoon ...... thanks Jill.

It was back into the old craft room this morning ..... still got loads on the 'To Do' list and it's the last day of the month tomorrow ....... eeeek!!  No Tim Tag done yet either (oh no!!).

Thanks for popping by today.  Hopefully things will settle down a little towards the end of next week and I can try and get back to blogging a little more regularly.

Cheerio for now

A little Less is More ......

Happy Friday everyone!

It's been a while ........ I think I've forgotten how to Blog!
There's been a lot going on around here lately, what with all the trips to the UK, craft shows, DT projects to do, and the arrival on the island of that little bundle of gorgeousness, aka Alex, his mum, and her partner, things have been a little busy shall we say.  Here's me thinking Stephen and I would get the house to ourselves for a while - not a chance!  Not that I'm complaining mind ......... anything but.  Lauren's new man is a chef ........ who's enjoying finding his way around my kitchen.  I'm not arguing with him, his knives are bigger than mine!!

Well, my travels are now over, for the time being (sigh!)  It's time to settle down and get things back to normal, especially on the craft front.  The old craft room, and my blog, have seriously been neglected for the last few weeks.  And just to make things a bit more 'interesting' Mr Mojo's decided to stay in the UK I think - great!!!  If anyone spots him please send him home ....... October is shaping up to be a busy month.

Here's something I haven't done in a while ........ a Blog Challenge!!
When I saw this weeks theme over at Less is More I was determined to enter.  It's a colour challenge with an extra bit added on ........
The colour part is .....
White on White

with the extra bit being ....... White Christmas.

Here's my entry ......

Not sure about the picture, it's always hard photgraphing white cards.  Anyway ....... I've used one of the new Sweet Poppy Stencils, Mistletoe Wreath, along with the Glossy White Embossing Paste.
Whilst the paste was still wet I sprinkled over some fine crystal glitter to add a touch of sparkle.

The word in the centre is a Memory Box die cut from glitter card.

See what I mean about me having trouble photographing white cards - it looks blue on this one!  It is white on white - honest!

I've also posted on the Creative Studios DT Blog today (first time in two weeks!)  Here's a little sneak peek of what's on there .......

Let's hope that over the weekend I can get the old craft room sorted, hope that Mr Mojo returns and maybe, just maybe I can make a start on Tim's Creative Chemistry -  yep! I'm playing catch up as usual.

Well, it's nice to be back in the land of Blog.  I'll try and visit you all at some point over the next few days, I'm dying to see what you've all been up to.

Thanks for popping by.  Have a lovely weekend, fingers crossed the weather's nice.

Cheerio for now
