Why use one, when you can use three ...... or more

Colours of ink that is!

Good morning!
Happy Friday to you.

I just want to remind you that the current Take It Make It Challenge is in full swing over on the Craft Stamper Blog.

There's always a great prize for the winner, and October's is fab! .......

A collection of stamps from Paperbabe ....... the Tree Hug set, Cumulus background AND a character stamp of your choice.
So what's the challenge again ........

Well, this month, the theme is ......
MULTI COLOURED STAMPING

We want to see designs where you've used more than one colour of ink on your stamps.

This technique is so much fun to do ..... and so effective.  Just by changing the colours you use, your stamped image can look so different.
Use ink pads, markers, or even paints to colour your stamps, and then stamp away!

Last week I showed you how I made my own custom ink pad using Distress Re-Inkers, to get the multi-coloured look.  This week, I've got the same effect but I've used different coloured ink pads directly onto my stamp .... easy!

I used Memento Dew Drops ..... these cute little ink pads are perfect for this technique.  The colours I used are Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Morocco and Olive Grove.

The stamp is called 'blush' and is from Penny Black ....... and it's a really clear image for using more than one colour.
You can see I also used first and second generation stamping too ..... to add a bit of depth in there

The words are from a winnie & walter clear set called the Big, the Bold and the Happy  and have been stamped simply in a black ink

To finish off the design I added a few multi coloured ink splats around the words, using one of the stamps from the Stampin Up! set ..... Gorgeous Grunge (one of my favourites)

A little bit of matting and layering with some co-ordinating colours of card, and of course a little something on the inside finishes everything off nicely

Still need more inspiration? ..... then check out what the rest of the DT have done using the Multi coloured stamping technique, over on the Craft Stamper Blog.

Have fun and get your entries in ..... you could be our next winner, and have your work published in the Craft Stamper Magazine!

Thanks for popping by ....... enjoy the rest of Friday and have a great weekend.  Lets hope this weather brightens up a little ..... fingers crossed!

Cheerio until next time

Time for a new challenge ......

Good morning!

Happy Friday to you.  It's the first Friday of the month so that means there's a brand new challenge launching on the Craft Stamper Blog.

As always there's a fab prize up for grabs, the winner will also have their work featured in an issue of the Craft Stamper magazine (ooooh!)  and ........ they'll be invited to do a Guest Spot on a future Blog Challenge too!  Now that's something worth winning.

This month our sponsor is .......  the fabulous Paperbabe Stamps

And here's the prize for this month's winner .....

What's the challenge then? ....... well, this month we'd like you to use .......

use more than one colour when inking up your stamps
Check out the project on page 80 of the latest issue of Craft Stamper, done by the lovely Kim Dellow.

There's a number of ways to do multi coloured stamping ...... use pens to colour your stamp, Distress Markers for example. Or, instead of using just one ink pad to add colour, use two or three ...... start with the lightest colour first and just add ink to parts of the stamp, use the next lightest colour and so on until the image is completely covered, then stamp away.

Another way to use more than one colour is to make your own ink pad ..... sounds like it could be difficult to do but, believe me, it's not.  I had great fun with this technique whilst on a Clarity Stamp Retreat earlier this year.

All you need is your rubber stamp, some Cut n Dry Stamp Pad Felt and Distress Ink re-inkers.  Oh, and a small re-sealable bag to keep your ink pad in once you've used it.
(I think it was the lovely Maria Simms, from the Clarity DT who brought this technique to Barbara's attention, and also this clever little trick on how to 'index' your ink pad so that you can re-ink it again and again).

Cut yourself a piece of white card to fit inside the re-sealable bag.  Choose the colours of ink you are going to be using and write the names onto the card leaving a space in-between, and place the card inside the re-sealable bag

Add couple of drops of each of the colours onto the plastic bag ..... this is now your palette.

Trim a piece of the Cut n Dry felt to the size of your stamp, then using a black archival ink stamp the image onto the felt side ...... I used the pretty little Briar Rose from Clarity for my image

Using a paint brush, colour in the image using the re-inkers from your palette.  Don't worry if the colours bleed a little, your stamped image will be fine

I used one of the Clarity Stencils to create my vase, and while the stencil was still in place, I inked up my Briar Rose and stamped the image onto the vase ..... see how the colours have blended to give that multicoloured look

I then masked off the top of the vase and added more of the roses

If you feel your ink pad is drying out a little, just go back and add more ink ......

I added some words to the side and then used a second generation stamp of the rose to add a bit more detail ..... doesn't it look pretty?!

To finish the card, I added another rose to the inside along with a greeting ......

And then I used the same rose stamp, this time with Versamark ink, to create a co-ordinating panel to add to the inside ......

And also around the edge of some matching coloured cardstock to add a nice framed look

When you've finished with your ink pad, wipe any leftover ink from the outside of the plastic bag, pop your pad inside and store until next time

Because you wrote down the colours of ink you used, you'll be able to re-ink this time and time again.

Now it's your turn to go all multi-coloured.
You have until October 29th to get your entries in so lots of time to play, and who knows, you could be our next winner announced on the 31st.  Good luck!
Don't forget to visit the rest of the DT to see their take on multicoloured stamping.

Thanks for popping by ......
