Happy Friday folks,
The latest edition of Craft Stamper hits the shelves again today, in all good craft stores and newsagents, so that means it's also time for a new Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge. This month's theme is sooo much fun ..... it's all about
The good old Potato
(or rather stamping using them)
There's a few ways of doing this .... carefully use a sharp knife, cookie cutters are another option, small kitchen tools like melon ballers make fabulous circle designs, or follow the lovely Helen Chilton and buy yourself a set of lino cutters and really take things to another level. Check out page 34 of the magazine to see Helen's fabulous work of art .... it's amazing!
For today's project, I actually drew my flower design onto the potato using a permanent marker pen then used a sharp vegetable knife to cut around the edge. You don't have to cut too much away, just deep enough so that you can get ink or paint on there and use it to stamp your design.
Here's the finished result .......
Quite a simple flower, but hey I can now say I designed my own stamp - yeah!!
I made the card by inking my background first using Distress inks - Worn Lipstick and Dusky Concord. I then spritzed with water to remove some of the colour and give that splattered effect
Then using some waterbased dye ink pads I stamped the flowers in colours to match.
I doodled in some stems and centres to each flower and added my sentiment from the JOFY14 stamp set ...
To finish it all off I did a touch of paper piercing around the edge and mat and layered using co-ordinating cardstock, and decorated the inside to match
I thought a matching gift bag would be a nice idea ....... so I took a plain white paper bag, added a touch of ink around the edge then stamped my flower across the bottom using the same colours of ink.
I made a panel in the same way as the card, Distress inks, spritzing etc., etc., and added that to the front of the bag
More JOFY stamps, this time from JOFY11 and some natural twine in matching colours add the finishing touches
What do you think? Tempted to give it a go? Go on, raid the vegetable rack, get those spuds out.
There's lots of fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team on the blog today if you're still thinking about it. And you never know ...... you could be our next winner.
Speaking of winners ...... last month was so hard to choose again but, the title went to .....
Congratulations Ana!

I LOVE that you designed your own stamp (even if it with a potato)! You really have created the most wonderful flower and the doodled stems are fantastic. Well done you! Hugs, Anne x
I don't believe it! Show me that cutout potato!! JK, of course, I believe you, but holy cow, it is hard to believe that you created these perfect little blossoms out of a potato!! I made a potato card a little over a year ago, but it was nothing like this! You have truly inspired me and I hope I can play along!! Have a great weekend, Linda! Hugs, Darnell
Such beautiful colours Linda. And I especially love the idea of matching a card to the bag.
