Roll on Friday ......

Happy Monday!

Just a quick post for you today ....... busy week ahead!  Only four days to go until our holiday across in the UK (yeah!) ..... but so much to do before we go (eeek!)

Sadly, one thing I won't be doing before we leave is my weekly post over on the Creative Studios blog.  In case you hadn't heard, I made the tough decision last week, to step down from the Design Team (sigh!)
I've had a fabulous 21 months working with the lovely Sam Poole and the talented bunch over there - time doesn't half fly when you're having fun!
But you know what it's like, everyday life gets in the way every now and again and finding the right mix can sometimes prove a little difficult.  Family comes first though, so last Friday was my final post on the blog (sob!)  Thanks to Sam for having me as part of the team for so long, and to everyone that's followed my posts over there, all your lovely comments really do mean a lot.

I've had a busy weekend in the old craft room .... Father's Day cards, DT stuff and birthday cards to take across to the UK.  One of which is for my big brother ...... I don't think he reads my blog so hopefully I'm safe showing this (if I'm wrong bro ...... then happy birthday, look surprised when you open it won't you!!)

Yep! ..... that's definitely him ..... old enough to know better!

I've kept things nice and simple .... always a good idea for those masculine cards!!!
I started out by stamping the 'happy birthday' (Tim Holtz Simple Sayings) onto the bottom of a piece of white cardstock

and used one of the stamps from the SU set Gorgeous Grunge, to add a little bit more interest.

I masked off the bottom section of the card and then using my good old Distress Inks ...... Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs and a touch of Aged Mahogany, I added colour to the rest.
Did my favourite (well used) technique, you know how it goes ....... flick water, leave it, mop it up and you get this nice distressed splattered look

I inked another piece of card in the same way and stamped the words ......

and added more ink splats using the Gorgeous Grunge set again.

The Postage Stamp frame was cut using the Sizzix Alterations die ..... and the addition of the layer of black card really makes the words pop I think.

Inside looks like this .....

My birthday cards from my brother NEVER arrive on time ..... we laugh about it every year.  This year he's getting his EARLY.  Well ..... seeing as we're across there and his birthday is only 3 day after we leave I thought I'd hand deliver it .... and he's even getting a present this time!!

Well I suppose I'd better get a move on ...... can't sit here chatting all day (unfortunately!)
Enjoy the rest of your Monday, and have a great week.

Cheerio until next time .....

Linda
xx

It is always sad to leave a DT but you are so right, family must (and should) always come first. I love the card for your brother, it is a perfect manly card and I love the sentiment on the front! Anne xx :)

Linda...this card is darling! You did a beautiful job it. I totally understand your need to step away from a DT as life steps up it's need for your attention. I am there myself. :) I wanted to take a second to thank you so much for the very nice comment you left on my blog regarding my mini journal. <3 Candy
