I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas .......

Hello again ........

Welcome to my second post of the day.
No I haven't lost the plot .... not yet anyway.  But ....... it is only 142 days until the big day .... just saying!

The reason we're going all festive is ...... it's time for this months Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge.  This month the theme is ..... snowflakes

I do love the snow .... when I don't have to go anywhere in it that is!  And I'm not quite ready for any of the white stuff to fall just yet so ....... lets settle for some pretty snowflakes on a Christmas card shall we .........

I've used the emboss resist technique for this design .... always a favourite.
I simply stamped various snowflakes onto a piece of white cardstock using Versamark ink, and then heat embossed them using a fine detail powder.

Using Distress Inks ...... Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans ..... I blended some colour onto the card, over the top of the embossed snowflakes.  You can see I started at the edges and blended in towards the centre leaving an area with hardly any colour at all ..... to highlight my sentiment (which I think is by Magenta)

Once I was happy with the colour I took a piece of kitchen roll and polished over the top of the snowflakes to remove any excess ink ..... the embossing powder acts as a resist to the Distress Ink and when you wipe over the top, your design will really pop against the coloured background, and of course the darker the ink the more the white will stand out.

To finish off I sprinkled a little water over the inked areas, let it sit for a while then removed the excess with kitchen roll ...... this gives a great effect for a snowy sky, along with a few dots of fine crystal glitter

I embossed a few snowflakes onto the inside and used the same technique to colour over the top

The festive greeting is from the HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments

Need more inspiration to get you in the festive mood ...... then check out the Happy Little Stampers Blog for more fabulous snowflake designs from the rest of the Design Team.

Thanks for popping by  ......... that's it from me today.  Time to relax and watch a bit of TV I think. Hmmm .... Downton Abbey or Grey's Anatomy ???? ...... or an episode of both maybe

Cheerio until next time
