Time to get festive .......

Happy Tuesday evening ......

Hope your week's got off to a good start.

It's time to get a little festive for the October Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge.  Can you believe there's only 81 days to go until the big day ...... eeek!

This month's theme is .......

Now, that could mean using embossing folders ..... embossing paste through a stencil maybe ... or the 'I never get fed up of using this technique'  heat embossing ... my favourite!

What do you think .......

I love how this turned out ..... I think it has a real vintage feel to it.

I saw something similar online that gave me the idea ........ (sorry but I can't remember where I saw it or who did it ....... how bad is that!!!).  Who says that snowflakes have got to be white on a blue background ..... I like the shades of brown!

I inked around the edges of a piece of white cardstock using two or three shades of brown Distress Inks ..... Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs ...... and then splattered a little clean water over the top.  I let this sit for a while, then mopped up the excess with a piece of paper towel, removing some of the Distress Ink

This is another favourite technique of mine .... I love the results every time. I think it makes the perfect wintry backdrop for snowflakes.

Once the ink was completely dry, I dusted over the top with an anti-static bag and then randomly stamped the snowflakes using a Versamark ink pad.  I then sprinkled Gold embossing powder over some of the snowflakes, and my current favourite ..... Liquid Platinum from Ranger over the rest. then I let my heat tool do the magic .....

Just look at the shine .... gorgeous!

A touch of fine gold glitter here and there adds a pretty sparkle and of a course a nice festive greeting from the HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments to finish off

I also added some snowflakes to the inside too ....

using the same embossing powders .....

As always the challenge is sponsored by the Happy Little Stampers store

And our winner will receive a $15 discount when they shop!

Still need some more inspiration? ..... You can find a whole lot more from the rest of the Design Team over on the HLS Blog

Go on ...... why not get a little festive .... Ho! Ho! Ho!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day/evening.
I'm off to grab a glass of something nice and chilled, and then I'm going to put my feet up and catch up on some TV.  Even though we didn't manage to get our trip away, we still had a busy weekend.

Cheerio until next time .....

Love the mix of gold and platinum for your snowflakes! Your background is a perfect blend of colours - and I love the water splatters on it. A great vintage look!

Just stumbled upon your site via Pinterest and love your work! I especially love your many snowflake cards and am interested in the stamp you use in many of them, including this beautiful card. Can you tell me the name of the stamp and who makes it? Thanks!

Thank your for your lovely comments Kathy, glad you enjoyed your visit.
The large snowflake on this card is from a Tim Holtz set of stamps .... Mini Weathered Winter (CMS246) which I think came out last year. The smaller ones are from a well loved Inkadinkadoo clear set called Filigree Snowman (99402) I do use these quite a lot. Hope this helps Kathy xx

Thanks, Linda. Helps a lot. Now... to add these two items to my Christmas wish list. Plus a Misti, which I hear is an amazing item from my stamping buddies!
