Happy New Year!!! ......

Hello there .......

And welcome to 2017 ........ I hope it's a good one for you!

After all the celebrations, it's time to get things back to normal .... whatever that is! I'll be making a start on taking the decorations down tomorrow.

The old craft room door is open again, the actual room is in a right old mess, but hey I can just about get to my desk! Guess what's on top of the To Do list for January ....... yep! ..... tidy up!!!
It'll all have to wait for now though because it's time to get the first challenges of 2017 underway. Happy Little Stampers are kicking everything off for me, with the CAS Challenge.
It's a nice easy one for you to get the year started ....... Stencils

There's lots of ways to use stencils ....... with pastes, with inks, with paints.  Try sprinkling Brusho's or other pigment powders through them and then spritzing with water.
Use them to print with ..... apply ink to the stencil, spritz and then lay the inky side directly onto your card .... great technique with fabulous results, why not give it a try.

I've gone for the traditional way of using a stencil ..... applying ink with a stencil brush, directly through the stencil onto my card

I've used the Starburst stencil from IndigoBlu ....... love this design, it reminds me of the New Year's Eve fireworks ....... not that I saw any of them mind.  Would you believe, hubby and I were both fast asleep BEFORE midnight ..... a first I think, for me anyway.   It was a mixture of getting over a cold and a chest infection, a course of anti-biotics and our first night out since Christmas Eve.  The champagne didn't even get opened!

Anyway .... I digress .... sorry!
I applied Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord and Salty Ocean  Distress inks blending the colours from the centre outwards

Once the ink was dry, I gave the card a quick wipe with an anti static bag before heat embossing the sentiment over the top.
I used the HLS Everyday Sentiments and embossed with a gold powder

To add a touch of sparkle I randomly went over some of the starburst lines using a glue pen and sprinkled fine crystal glitter over the top

Then to finish off I added a few pretty sequins here and there,  and the odd sparkly gemstone

Happy New Year folks!

The challenge as always is sponsored by the Happy Little Stampers store

And the winner will receive a $15 discount voucher to spend in the store.

Pop over to the HLS Blog to find lots more Stencil inspiration from the rest of the Design Team ..... we've been busy!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time ......

Thanks for welcoming me to the team Linda and what sparkling and fun celebratory card! Lots of fizz and fireworks as you say depicted in your card and the 'happy' word is very popular for this challenge. Looking great embossed too - thanks for the inspiration. x

Made it here eventually, only half way through the month! haha
I LOVE this card, that stencil is perfect for a celebration card and I love the blend of colours and the added sparkle. I trust you're all mended now and feeling fine and dandy again. I also didn't see midnight on NYE, and no excuse, just tired and lazy! lol xx
