Indian Summer ..... IndigoBlu Challenge reminder

Morning folks,

Happy Wednesday!  Looks like we're in for another nice day here on the island ...... September has been lovely so far, a real Indian Summer ..... lets hope it lasts!

It's a bit of a busy week in the old craft room though, no sitting in the sun for me I'm afraid!  Plus we had a house full last night ....... hubby hosted a poker game, so it was cards of a different kind for me. I should have stayed in the craft room ......... it didn't go well ...... but, that's another story!

I'm busy trying to get everything up to date before I head off on my first trip of the month ........ I think Mr Mojo has decided to leave early though, things are not going according to plan (when do they ever!!)
Never mind ...... only one more sleep then I'm off to the UK for a few days .... whoo hoo!!
But,  there's still stuff to do (including the packing!) so must get on.

The latest challenge over at IndigoBlu is in full swing and funnily enough our theme this month is .....

Here's a little something that would make nice stocking filler gifts perhaps (sorry to remind you of the 'C' word ..... especially when the sun is still shining!)  Or, it could even be an alternative to a card .....

a useful calendar and note pad.

This is so simple to make ... if you'd like to see how I did it pop over to the IndigoBlu Blog today for my regular weekly post.

And why not pop over to the challenge blog where you'll find more fabulous inspiration pieces from some of the Design Team, and also some of the very talented Demonstrators who have recently joined the team.

Oh well, I suppose it's back to the old craft room ....... then I must get my suitcase packed.  I fly first thing tomorrow and as it stands all I've got is my passport and a craft shopping list!!

Thanks for popping by ...... have a lovely Wednesday.

Cheerio until next time

You have to be in it to win it ......

Happy Monday!

I hope you've had a good weekend.  I'm still in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water ...... I could get used to this, waking up to sunshine every morning and sitting in the garden with the first cuppa of the day.  And the biggest decision to make is where to go for dinner.  This is the life!!

I've got a quick reminder for you this morning ....... the latest IndigoBlu Challenge is well under way, but there's still time to get your entry in.
The theme for you this month is ........
 MONOCHROMATIC

Designs using just one colour, or shades of a colour.

My first inspiration piece for you was shades of BLUE.  This time I've gone all pretty in PINK

And just how pretty does she look! ..... I love this stamp, and keeping things to just one colour gives a really striking effect I think.

The finished card size is 7x5, a real favourite of mine.
I cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the card front, and stamped my sentiment (from the IndigoBlu Bear Hugs stamp set) across the bottom using Rose Pink Memento ink

I then coloured another piece of white card using shades of pink Distress Inks ..... Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. I kept the colour away from the centre as I wanted her face to have a lighter side.
You can see I've also used my favourite technique of flicking water over the ink to remove some of the colour

I stamped Jane using the pink Memento ink again, making sure that part of her face was over the centre of my card that had virtually no colour there ...... see how it adds shading to the image.

To finished her off  I added a pretty pink butterfly to her hair, using another of my well used, favourite stamps, the IndigoBlu Butterfly that was a freebie on an issue of Craft Stamper Magazine some time ago.

Stamped in the same ink colour, then a touch of shading added using Worn Lipstick Distress ink and a waterbrush.

I added a layer of co-ordinating pink card and attached the image above the sentiment.

The design has been carried through to the inside of the card as well ...... those of you that read my blog regularly will know that this is something I always like to do ......

I masked off a section of white card and coloured it using the shades of pink Distress Inks again.  Flicked the coloured panel with water, and stamped the Jane image again ....... note the masking was still in place.

Another layer of co-ordinating pink card and it's all done.  Hope you like it.

Check out the IndigoBlu Challenge blog for more Monochromatic inspiration from the Design Team, then join in the fun.  Remember there's a great prize up for grabs ..... you have until 8pm on July 20th to get your entries in ...... good luck!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day.  We're having a trip to Thomas Land today, over at Drayton Manor. It's not too far from where we are and a certain little person is insisting we go ..... he's soooo excited.  Sodor here we come!

Cheerio until next time .....

Words are all You Need ...... quick reminder

Morning folks,

Happy Wednesday!

Have you entered the latest IndigoBlu Challenge yet?  There's still a week to go to get your entries in, so there's plenty of time for you to get all creative.

It's all about Words this month,  you'll find some fabulous quotes and sentiments in the IndigoBlu stamp range, no doubt you've all got plenty in your stash to choose from, the problem will be deciding which one!

One of my favourite stamp sets at the moment is the brand new Under the Sea ..... I love it!!!  I've used one of the sentiment stamps that comes in the set, for my inspiration piece for you today .....

How true is that saying.   I can tell you, I've discovered a few new oceans over the years.  Life will never be dull if you have the courage to take a risk every now and again!

Anyway .... back to the card.  This was so simple to make .... I started by inking a piece of white cardstock using Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and a touch of Shabby Shutters).  Did my usual thing with some water, and then mopped up the excess, leaving that nice mottled effect in the background.

I then stamped the Bubbles background, randomly over the card, using Versamark ink and then dusted over the top with some Mica Powders.  There's a few brands on the market at the moment, I used the Luminarte Artist Pigments on my design ...... really nice fine powders with intense colour.  You'll find them on the IndigoBlu website.

I then stamped the words onto a seperate piece of white card, using Majestic Blue Versafine.  I cut it out using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies and cut a frame to go around the edge from navy cardstock

I attached this onto the bubble panel using foam pads, mat it onto a piece of navy cardstock and attached it to the front of a 6x6 square cardblank.
I've finished it off by adding some tiny gemstones around the edge, to give that porthole look , and added a few tiny 'bubbles' around the words using Glossy Accents and a touch of clear fine crystal glitter.

Inside has been given a similar treatment so that it all co-ordinates.

Feeling inspired yet?  Need some more ideas?  Well, pop over to the Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT have been up to.
Go on ..... give the challenge a go.  Who knows you might be our next winner ..... have fun and good luck!!

If you're loving these new stamps as much as I am, why not pop over later, to the IndigoBlu Blog and have a read of today's post.  It's me on there again, and I've got another idea for you using the Under the Sea stamps, along with the fabulous new Design Alphabet.  Here's a little sneaky peek for you .....

Thanks for popping by today .... have a wonderful Wednesday.

Cheerio until next time
