It's weekend again!!

Happy Friday folks!

Yes, I'm still here .... just in case you were wondering .... it's been a while.  How is everyone? Had a good week?
Mine has absolutely flown by.  As usual I've been here, there and everywhere.
I've made a start on the Christmas shopping .......whoo hoo!!!  Bought my first present .....now I just have to remember where I've put it when it's time to wrap everything!
Had a lovely day yesterday ...... finally bought some bedroom furniture for the little man's room ..... that's going to be a big job at the weekend!   Had a lovely lunch out with a friend,  topped off with ice cream by the sea .....the weather was gorgeous! And ..... we paid a visit to Laxey Woollen Mills ..... always worth a trip!  Look what I got ......

Cosy or what! Perfect for those dark, winter nights in front of the TV
And, wait for this ........ I actually bought some cards!!!!

I just couldn't resist them ....... I'm going to get some frames I think and hang them on the wall.

It's not all been days out and nice lunches ..... I have been busy in the old craft room too.  Barbara's back on the telly this weekend ...... whoo hoo!! No prizes for guessing what I've been doing .... hopefully you'll see some of the results at the weekend.
Claim the sofa and the remote control, set your Sky boxes to record and enjoy the shows

When ......... Sunday 25th Oct
What time ........  2pm til 4 ...... and again at 6pm
Where ......... HOCHANDA  Sky Channel 663  Freeview 39  and Freesat 817

There's new Christmas goodies ....... just in case you haven't started on all those festive makes!

I also found time to play along with this week's Less is More Challenge.  It's a Theme week and it's a tough one .......
MASCULINE (oh no!!)

Eventually this is what I came up with ......

Not really amazing ..... CAS though, lots of white space!!!

I always struggle with masculine style .... much nicer to make pretty, feminine cards but I got there in the end.

I stamped the words first and then used the Brickwall embossing folder from Stampin Up to add texture to the background

Ink splats add a bit more interest, and I finished it off by adding some silver thread and a simple metal button

Believe it or not, this wasn't the first attempt.  My card moved in the embossing folder on the first run through and I ended up with the brickwall not straight.  But, you know me, I never throw anything away and I actually quite liked it so ........ I made it into a girly version .... pink obviously!

This time I used my Distress Stains to do the ink splats ....... straight down onto the card with the foam topped bottle ...... SPLAT!!!

Love it! ..... remember to cover your workspace and yourself first though because the ink does go EVERYWHERE!!!

Great design for teenagers I think!

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day and have a lovely weekend.
We're starting early with a few drinks and dinner out this evening ....... no idea where as we haven't booked anything. Not such a great plan, especially if there's a few of you .... you wouldn't believe how busy everywhere is!

Cheerio until next time .........

It's One Layer Week ...... for the boys

Hello there!

Me again ...... just a quick post, I hadn't realised the time!

It's One Layer Week over at Less is More ..... and you all know how much I love those!!  And .... as if that wasn't tricky enough, the theme this week is .......

Masculine

That's right ..... it's got to be ONE LAYER, CAS ...... and designed with those fabulous MEN in mind!

OK ..... I'm always up for a challenge ..... what do you think?

Definitely only one layer ...... and I know a few guys I could send this too!

I've used this months cool, freebie stamp from the Craft stamper magazine ..... coloured using a set of the new Prima watercolour pencils ......

I made myself a mask for the camper van, put it in place and then used the zig zag stamp from the Stampin Up! set ..... Work of Art, to add a little more interest to the background.
I finished off with a few co-ordinating ink splats here and there using Distress inks mixed with water, and added the perfect sentiment ...... job done!

The inspiration for this came from a cute little VW camper van, owned by my daughter's boyfriend .... meet 'George'

Here he is parked down by the beach yesterday.
Quite the little home from home .....

Even the little man thinks he's cool .....

Perfect for making the most of those sunny days!

Thanks for popping by (again!) ..... enjoy the rest of your evening. I'll be back tomorrow with the last of this week's Blog challenge entries.

Cheerio until next time.

More than one stamp .......

Happy Wednesday to you!

How's your week going then?  I'm slowly working through the mahoosive list of 'Things To Do' before next Friday ...... only 8 more days to go until we board that ferry across to the UK (not that I'm counting!)

One of the things on the list was the Less is More Blog Challenge.  I couldn't not enter this week, as I'm proud to say I was ShowCASed again last Friday ..... whoo hoo!!

Week 172   Flowers

Because Saturday was weekend number 5 in May (the day the challenge is launched)  we have a Lucky Dip challenge ....... we have to use
MORE THAN ONE STAMP

So here goes ......

Can you guess how many stamps I've used ......... it's definitely more than one.  The answer is FIVE!  Three from the Stampin Up! set - Gorgeous Grunge ...... one from Tim Holtz's Simple Sayings and the IndigoBlu Penny Farthing Dinkie stamp

I've gone for a masculine look this week ... well Father's Day is fast approaching.

I've stamped the Gorgeous Grunge images using Potting Soil Archival ink and Crimson Red Versafine

The Penny Farthing was then stamped using Onyx Black Versafine ink and embossed with a Clear Detail powder

I added the sentiment across the bottom and it's job done, nearly.

I mat and layered with some Kraft and white cardstock and attached it to the front of a black 7x5 cardblank.
In true LindyLou fashion the inside has been given the finishing touch too .....

TT Race Week is in full swing with more races running today.  In fact it's been race day every day due to the weather.  Let's just say it's been a bit changeable (nothing new there).  We've had sun, we've had rain, but it doesn't damped the spirits of the TT fans.  Senior Race Day is only 2 days away (Friday) .... and it's a bank holiday on the island too.  You never know we may just get up close to some of the action.  That's if we don't party too hard on Thursday night, at the Poker Stars Summer/TT Party!

We were down on Douglas Prom last night .... well sort of, we were actually more on Onchan Head.  We went in to hubby's place of work and took over a balcony overlooking Douglas Bay .... why?  Because the Red Arrows were flying in to do a display

The little one didn't know which way to look ......

They didn't half put on a show ...... finishing just as the evening ferry was leaving (I'll be on that a week on Friday!!!)

Oh well, back to the old craft room it is.  I've got DT stuff  to do, Blog challenges to enter ..... a craft shopping list to write for when I'm in the UK.  I intend to stock up ..... seeing as we're in the car!!  All that before Lauren goes to work at 3 and I'm back on Grandma duties.  I'll be glad when TT's over and things get back to normal ....... whatever that is!  I think we're all going to be ready for that holiday.

You can find me on the IndigoBlu Blog today too ..... here's a sneaky peek at what's on there

Thanks for popping by .... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time .......

One for the chaps .......

Happy Tuesday!

What's going on ...... not even the middle of the week and my Less is More entry is already done - whoo hoo!!  Am I actually getting organised ......... I don't think so!   These stamps were still on my workdesk and when I saw the theme for this week's challenge I thought let's go for it!

This week's theme is .......

MASCULINE

It doesn't matter what age group ..... as long as the card is for the male gender.
Here's mine ......

This would be perfect for my man ...... he's definitely NOT a morning person.  You're all going to think I've lost the plot now but .... he gets breakfast in bed EVERY morning!  I know, I know ..... he's spoiled rotten, but ..... it's the only way to get him out of there in time for work.

Anyway ...... the cute little bear is Sleeping George from the IndigoBlu Dinkie stamp range ..... and I love him!!!
He's been stamped using Versafine ink so as not to lose any of the detail

and I've highlighted the crown with a touch of gilding flakes.

The decorative strip across the card has been stamped with another IndigoBlu stamp, this one is from the recently launched Good Times set.  It's a fabulous background stamp, so useful too.

The words and the Zz's are from the Bear Hugs set (IndigoBlu again), and finish off the design perfectly.

As usual the insides's been stamped too ...... along with a matching decorative strip

This little guy is actually a mini version of Aloysius which you'll find on one of the early IndigoBlu stamp sets .... Brideshead

I suppose this one could have also been an entry for this week too.......

One of the new Woodware stamps which I just couldn't resist!

We had a brief visit from the sun over the weekend ..... Sunday was a lovely day so we decided to go for a walk.   We found ourselves down in Port Soderick Glen and even though there were no leaves on the trees and it was a little bit on the muddy side it was still very pretty down there .....

We saw the first signs of spring too ......

The daffs are coming!

Little one enjoyed himself wandering in the woods ......

and we finished the afternoon with a stroll on the beach

Port Soderick was once a busy tourist attraction on the island ..... not so much now.  The buildings that remain are all boarded up and abandoned ..... shame really.

Thanks for popping by today, enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.  I'm off to a craft workshop with the lovely ladies in Ballaugh.  It'll be tea, cake and craft all afternoon ..... perfect!

Until next time .....

Crafty hugs
