It's challenge time!! ........

Happy Sunday evening .....

Welcome to October.  I hope you've had a good weekend.

It's time to get this month's blog challenges underway, and I'm starting October off with the Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge.
The theme for this month is ...... Embossing on Vellum

I've recently re-discovered my love of vellum ...... you know how it is, you buy it, you use it once or twice, you put it away and then forget about it!
Suddenly ....... it starts to appear on gorgoeus designs on Blogs and Pinterest ...... and then ping! you suddenly remember that you have a drawer full of this fabulous stuff!  Time to use it.

I sometimes like to use vellum to add sentiments on my cards, just a simple torn strip with an embossed greeting can give a real delicate look to your finished designs ..... this was on one of my previous HLS DT pieces ......

Heat embossing onto vellum gives such a nice look ..... the white can look so pretty and delicate, and then you can change the look by adding colour to your stamped images  ........

I took a panel of vellum and stamped onto it using the Happy Little Stampers Doodles Flowers and a Versamark Ink pad.  I then added Ranger's Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder and heat set ...... how pretty does that look!

When stamping onto vellum it's always a good idea to dust over with an anti-static bag before you start .... helps to keep the embossing powder from sticking to where you don't want it!

The colour on the flowers is from my Prismacolor pencils ...... coloured onto the back of the stamped design then highlighted on the front with a touch of white gel pen onto some of the flowers, and I also added a bit more interest to the background by adding a few white dots here and there ..... I think you can just about see them on the photo .... trust me they're there

I finished of by adding some embossed lines, top and bottom, to frame the vellum panel, and a simple sentiment

One of the problems when using vellum is that it's hard to attach to your cards without the adhesive showing through.
One way is to use brads, or an all over adhesive, like an adhesive sheet.  I've actually wrapped the vellum around the piece of white cardstock and attached it on the back where you can't see the adhesive.  And just to make sure that it lays down flat I've also applied a little glue on the back of the flower centers so you don't actually see it once it's dry.

When I cut my vellum panel down to fit the front of my card, there was actually a flower left over so, not wanting to waste anything I fussy cut around it and applied it to the inside of my card

Hope you like it .... now it's your turn to emboss on vellum.
It doesn't have to be heat embossing you know, if you use vellum with your embossing folders you get a really nice effect ...... the embossed parts go white, a bit like parchment craft but easier!! And then of course there's always embossing pastes .... they work on vellum too.
Can't wait to see what you all come up with.

As always the challenge is sponsored by the Happy Little Stampers store

and the winner will receive a $15 discount to spend in the shop.  That could come in very handy .... there's a whole bunch of new stamp designs coming out very soon!

Check out the HLS blog for more fabulous challenge inspiration from the rest of the Design Team .... they've all been very busy.

Thanks for popping by ....... enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy Stamping!

Cheerio until next time

Such a pretty card. Love the layout and the colours you've used. Yes the liquid platinum looks so pretty. Wondered how you attached the vellum when I first saw it. Great addition of the white dots and the dry embossed lines. Thank you for the inspiration x

Great card. Very modern, but at the same time also refers in some way to the traditions. I love the double pressing.
