Tone on Tone for CAS Mix Up ......

Happy Thursday ......

Well, that's September done and dusted, and here we are in October.
I love this time of year.  Autumn has arrived, and there's definitely a chill in the air.  The heating is on and it's hot chocolate all round ..... although I am still wearing my flip flops, it's not quite boot weather just yet!

The first of the month sees a brand new challenge over at CAS Mix Up
It's a STENCIL challenge this month, with the theme ..... Tone on Tone

The host for October is our lovely Viv,  and we have a fabulous Guest Designer this month ....... Pat (Colourful Card Creations) is joining in the fun so please pop by and say Hello.

Tone on Tone is a really fun way to use colour, especially with your stencils.  You can create interesting designs, add depth and layers or shadow effects by simply using different tones, or shades, of the same colour of ink.

I've kept things really simple here.  I started out with a piece of pretty lilac cardstock and stenciled over  the top using one of my favourite stencils and a lilac shade of Distress Ink

I added in a few splatters to the background with the same coloured ink, and did a little bit of shading to the petals using a Prismacolor pencil, again in a lilac shade

A few dots of Crystal Glaze on the centre of the flower, and I finished off with my sentiment ......

Part heat embossed, and part stamped, again using a different shade of lilac/purple ink

The challenge is open until October 24th so there's lots of time to play along.  See you in the gallery!

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.
Hubby's out for dinner this evening on a work thing.  They're not going into the office everyday but they can have meetings in a fancy restaurant ?????   I'm not jealous ..... much,  he's only at one of my favourite places ..... without me!!!
I have got the little man to keep me company though ..... homework, pizza and a movie for me, much more fun!

Cheerio until next time ......

Happy Everything! .......

Hello there ..... Happy Wednesday!

Well our 14 day quarantine is finally over ..... whoo hoo!!!
It wasn't too bad, and we're both fine which means we're free again .... happy days!  We've already got the weekend planned .... can't wait!

It's time for a quick reminder though about July's CAS Mix Up Challenge
I wasn't here for the launch but I didn't want to completely miss playing along with this month's theme.

We have a fun Stencil challenge for you this month, hosted by Nancy.

To play along you must use a stencil on your cards, follow the theme ..... Stencil Tracing, and of course keep things Clean and Simple (CAS)

There's a couple of ways of Stencil Tracing, you can either use your stencil to draw/trace around the design or, outline your finished stencil design freehand, like I've done here ........

This was so quick to make ..... I simply inked through my stencil using Distress Inks

I removed the stencil and stamped the sentiment across the centre ......

And then I outlined around the edge of the stenciled image using a Stardust Glitter Gel Pen.

This is so subtle, and depending on how the light catches it can almost look like it isn't there, if you know what I mean.
I hope the sparkle comes across in the photos, it does look really pretty IRL.

We've had three amazing Guest Designers joining the DT this month .........

&

Check out the CAS Mix Up Blog to see all their gorgeous inspiration, and if you fancy playing along there's still time ....... the challenge is open until 24th July.

Happy stenciling!

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time ....

August's CAS Stencil challenge ..........

Happy Sunday ......

I hope you're having a lovely weekend.
It's been a quiet one around here, which has been nice.  I've even managed to spend some time in my craft room!

It's time to get this month's CAS Stencil challenge underway.
Robyn is our host for August, and it's another fun theme for you ....... Sprays

There's loads of sprays out there ..... Distress Sprays, Distress Oxides, Perfect Pearls, Dylusions you name it!  But don't worry, if you don't have any of those in your stash you can still join in the fun by making your own.  Just put a little drop of your liquid inks (re-inkers etc.), or pigment powders like Brushos or Color Bursts, or even acrylic paints, into a spray bottle, add water, give them a good old shake to mix, and then spray!

I've used Distress Oxide Sprays with my pretty daisy stencil ......

I simply placed the stencil over a piece of watercolour card ..... spritzed with the lightest shade all over, and then used a darker shade just in the centre of the flower.

Depending on how much you spray, you may get a little of the ink bleeding underneath your stencil in places ....... I quite like the little imperfections though.
If you like a more crisp finish, spray the underside of your stencil with a little repositionable adhesive to hold it in place on your cardstock.

I mounted the card onto a slightly larger piece leaving room to add a sentiment at the bottom ......

And finished off with a few dots of Crystal Drops

We have two lovely Guest Designers joining us this month ...... Hilary (from fiddling about) and Amy (from Miss_Lomax_Art).  Pop by the CAS Stencil Challenge Blog to see what they've created for this month's challenge theme.  You'll also find some fab inspiration from the rest of the DT on there too.

Thanks for stopping by ...... enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Cheerio until next time .....
